We’re off to the beach park, In a small bus surrounded by Russians in bikinis. It’s a little surreal to be honest. Getting out at the beach park we pay a small fee to get in, and are confronted by a sea of red beach umbrellas and people who missed a few areas when applying their sunscreen. Green peace could have a save the whales campaign. Near 10000 people on a beach is pretty intimidated site. Didn’t really care for dip when at the coromandel at home we would be lucky if there were 10 people on a beach – off to the mall !
We had per purchased tickets for the tallest building in the wOrld. – the bur khalifa. At 828m tall it’s pretty amazing. Queuing for 45 min was a little trying but the views of new Dubai at the top were breath taking. 124 floors in less than 1 min was amazing! You could see all of new Dubai with its tallest block in the world a few km down the road. Huge buildings sparking in the desert. It is a huge contrast to yesterday with the old spice markets of old Dubai.
Back down in the Dubai mall – shopping was the point of order. I’m a good shopper at the best of times ( honestly 5 minutes is all i usually muster) Today I earnt my brownie points – two tops, foundation make up and a dress for Emily. A burrito for Scott. I needed my second wind though – thank you to the Victoria secret shop for its get up and go attitude – so all and all a productive day out.
With 20 million visitors last year it’s an amazing place. Four levels of quality shopping. Even I’m impressed. The aquarium and water park in the middle really is amazing ( at this point I need a thesaurus for some more superlatives.) The place is heaving with people even at 9pm
Off home on the metro – a very seamless affair that reminds me of Singapore. A 430 wake up call awaits.
